Bringing agricultural products to business on the e-commerce platform is a solution that is expected to help many types of agricultural products escape the situation of "good season, devaluation".
Expectations for agricultural products
After just one day, the Hai Duong Agricultural Product Promotion Booth and the damaged provinces opened by Covid-19 on the Sendo e-commerce platform, more than 6 tons of products were sold. Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Director of Sendo Representative Office in Hanoi, said that this consumption is better than expected. With the superiority in transport technology, Sendo has brought agricultural products straight from the farm to the consumers, overcoming short-time shortages of agricultural products, as well as reducing costs for middlemen.
The program "Only 1,000 VND per kg of agricultural products, with unlimited quantity purchased" by the Department of Trade Promotion, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Sendo e-commerce platform (sendo.vn) started from March 9, expected to be lasted until the end of March, concentrated in Hanoi. The program is implemented to help promote the consumption of agricultural products in Hai Duong, such as tomatoes, kohlrabi and cabbage, which are sold for only 1,000 VND / kg and support shipping costs at the same price of 9,000 VND / order all of Hanoi area. Up to now, the program has had 25 tons of Hai Duong agricultural products sold to the market. The entire transportation process is in compliance with the sterilization process and the message "5K" issued by the Ministry of Health.
Not only agricultural products, Sendo also aims to consume specialty products of provinces and cities across the country. Usually these items are consumed by traditional methods, through primary and secondary distributors to supermarkets and retail stores, so when they reach consumers, the prices are pushed up very high. Going through e-commerce platforms like Sendo will optimize costs for consumers. "This is Sendo's goal after the campaign to support the consumption of agricultural products of the people in the epidemic zone ends", Mr. Tran Tuan Anh informed.
Sale promotion booth for agricultural products on the Sendo platform under the national trade promotion program, implemented by the Trade Promotion Department in cooperation with Sendo. The goal is to connect the consumption of agricultural products to people in Hai Duong province and some other epidemic regions. Mr. Hoang Minh Chien, Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Department, said that the points of product supply are licensed by competent authorities for food quality, hygiene and safety, stamping traceability, complying with the sterilization process, comply with 5K regulations issued by the Ministry of Health. Products supplied to the market meet the criteria of quality, clear origin and transparency of information.
"The product consumption promotion booth on Sendo not only has the aim of supporting product consumption during the epidemic time, but also a means of supporting sustainable consumption for businesses and cooperatives", Mr. Hoang Minh Chien Informed.
Along with Sendo, many programs to put agricultural products on the e-commerce platform have been implemented. Before that, from 2-3 days, Hai Duong Provincial Post Office connected and purchased agricultural products of people through the e-commerce platform Postmart.vn (Vietnam Post Corporation - Vietnam Post) and gave instructions on how to post product information, products listed on the Posrmart.vn floor with households producing and trading in agricultural products in this province. The products listed on the platform are certified for OCOP standards such as cabbage, kohlrabi, cauliflower, carrots, onion, garlic, guava, eggs, broiler chicken, and beans ... Up to now, the number of orders for agricultural products via Postmart.vn, relatively positive. In order to support Hai Duong farmers during this epidemic, Vietnam Post waives all shipping costs for all Hai Duong agricultural products on the Postmart.vn platform.
Or on March 4, Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation (Viettel Post) implemented the feature "Buy together at low price" on the Vo So e-commerce platform (voso.vn). Accordingly, Viettel Post Hai Duong opened a booth, organized the collection and distribution of agricultural products for the people of Hai Duong. All six stalls "rescue" Hai Duong agricultural products on the Vo So E-commerce platform currently focus on providing 5 types of agricultural products including: Cam Dong chicken eggs, Chi Linh hill chicken, Thanh Ha guava, cabbage, and kohlrabi. According to statistics, after only two days, there were two shipments of Hai Duong agricultural products gathered by the e-commerce platform to the warehouse in Hanoi, including 80 thousand Cam Dong clean eggs and 5 tons of vegetables (kohlrabi, cabbage, Thanh Ha guava…).
Long-term goal
In addition to the above programs, the Trade Promotion Department has now worked with some domestic e-commerce platform such as Lazada, Tiki to support product consumption for cooperatives and farmers. Trade Promotion Department has also worked with some international e-commerce platforms Alibaba.com and Amazon.com to promote export.
Sharing more deeply about this issue, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Director of the Center for Information Technology Application of Trade Promotion, Trade Promotion Department shared, initially, the Trade Promotion Department established the national booth as a common booth for products. After the product is sold well or the consumers acknowledge it positively, businesses and cooperatives who commit to participate in the program will receive technical support from the Trade Promotion Department. Specifically, the team of experts of the Department and the units coordinate to organize training to raise awareness, advise and set jobs for each enterprise and cooperative.
Training or persuading partners to participate in e-commerce platforms is quite difficult and requires the right approach. Because with small businesses and cooperatives, the e-commerce platform is very far away, so it needs the close companionship of all participating units. "When the product is consumed, people know the effectiveness of this distribution channel, from which to actively participate, consulting activities will be more favorable", Ms. Thuy shared.
After Hai Duong, the Trade Promotion Department will select a number of provinces with potential products selected according to the following criteria: Quality inspection, information transparency, clear origin to support posting on e-commerce platforms for consumption. From there, it helps to reduce the fear of "good season, devaluation".
Before the Lunar New Year, many fruits and agricultural products exported to China were stuck at the border gates, with thousands of containers, and traders neglected to purchase them. However, just after the end of the Lunar New Year, fruit prices skyrocketed, benefiting businesses, which had had cold storage warehouses to store goods before.
